New York's First
Nepali Restaurant
Nestled on Roosevelt Avenue in the heart of Jackson Heights — the most culturally diverse neighborhood on Earth — Himalayan Yak has been a culinary beacon since 2004. We were the first Nepali restaurant to open in New York City, and we remain one of its most beloved.
Our menu journeys across the Himalayan range: from Nepal's soul-warming Dal Bhat Tarkari and Tibet's hand-pulled noodles, to Bhutan's fiery Ema Datshi and India's fragrant curries. Every plate carries the spirit of the mountains.
We source fresh yak meat from a Vermont farm each summer, served as shapta or the adventurous Cheley — yak tongue with bread. We were featured on ABC's Ugly Betty, and named Best Tibetan Restaurant by The Village Voice.
